Site Updates

Traffic replay on the map - Pick any moment in the past and watch the world's traffic move as it did, with play and pause, speed control, and a draggable timeline you can scrub and zoom across midnight. Clicking an aircraft opens its flight panel just as it does live, and the address bar updates so you can share a link that reopens the map at exactly that moment.

Plane spotting on the map - Live and recent YouTube plane-spotting streams now appear as markers at the airports they cover, with a player that opens in place showing viewer count, live or replay, and whether ATC audio is included. Off by default; toggle it on from the new Map features menu, which also holds Full screen and Wingbits AI.

The map loads much faster - Opening the map spent several seconds on a grey screen, then flashed again before aircraft appeared. That sequence is much shorter now, and images and icons are cached between visits instead of being re-fetched every time.

Some people could not load the map at all - Some users were stuck in a retry loop that never recovered, so the live map never appeared for them. That is fixed, tabs in a bad state now recover on their own, and the browser no longer opens a new session every few minutes in the background.

Customisable map layer shortcuts - The map layers panel now has a Customize option that lets you pick up to five layers to keep as shortcuts on the dock. Your selection is remembered, and only layers available in your current view are shown.

Clearer map layer controls - Basemap and View are now proper segmented controls rather than rows of dots, every row has a single self-describing label, and the switches are reachable by keyboard.

Satellite imagery zooms in further - Satellite view now serves real imagery at closer zoom levels instead of falling back to "Map data not yet available", and road labels are legible over it rather than being dark text on a dark photo.

The mobile map dock fits again - On phones the dock had grown past the edge of the screen, pushing Search and My Tracking off the top with no way to reach them. Every control is reachable again.

Reserved hexes recognise your own reservation - If someone previously had a station in a hex you now hold, the map told you the hex was reserved by someone else. It now correctly shows it as yours.

ACAS incident fixes - Incidents where the threat aircraft does not broadcast its own identifier can now be opened and replayed instead of refusing to load, and an internal placeholder value no longer appears in the panel where a real aircraft address belongs.

LAR rank is now shown - Rank previously covered only your Base + EPR contributions. There is now a LAR Rank column on the fleet table and a separate LAR line on the station chart, with the figure you already had relabelled Base + EPR Rank. The two are ranked against different sets of stations, so they are not directly comparable.

The two "total earned" figures are explained on screen - Both totals on the overview and wallets pages now carry an info tooltip describing exactly what each one counts, so the difference between them is answered where you see it.

WingView browser installer - There is now a page at wingbits.com/wingview that flashes WingView firmware straight from your browser over USB, with no software to install first. It walks through choosing your board, connecting the device, and what to do if the cable or port gives you trouble.
