Updates for August 4th -> September 2nd, 2026
Client Updates:
Client 1.13.0 - Reduces the risk of a race condition starting two copies of the client at once.
Site Updates:
Emergency squawks now visible on the map - An aircraft squawking 7700 (general emergency), 7600 (radio failure) or 7500 (hijack) used to appear only as a raw code buried in the Technical tab. These are now surfaced properly: a pulsing ring on the aircraft, a colored tint on the marker, a badge and explanation in the flight panel, and an awareness list so you can find one even when it isn't in your current view. That last part matters because there are only about 13 network-wide per day, usually zero to two happening anywhere in the world at once, so without it you would essentially never see the feature. Very short blips (roughly 1 in 5 are pilots dialing through codes for a few seconds) are filtered out.
Location warning no longer appears for stations that are earning - Some stations were shown "Location Mismatch Detected, rewards will not be earned until the location matches" while they were ingesting and earning normally, as small variations in reported GPS position were enough to trigger it. The warning now appears only when a station's location genuinely does not match, so it can be trusted as something to act on.
Public website overhaul - A large pass over the public site. Page headings, navigation, text and buttons now appear immediately instead of waiting on an animation to finish, and pages opened in a background tab are already drawn when you switch to them. The footer has been cleaned up and reorganized, and some dead links were resolved.
SEO improvements - A range of fixes so search engines and crawlers can properly read and index the public site.
Airports on the map - Three related fixes. The flight detail panel showed a blank space where the airport name belongs, and now shows the name. Every airport drawn on the map can be clicked, rather than only a curated subset of them. Airport icons now sit on the control tower rather than the center of the field, where they had been covering the runway markings.
Departure and arrival airports no longer swapped - On the map flight info card, round-trip flight numbers (an aircraft flying the same number out and back) could show departure and arrival reversed, and once wrong it stayed wrong for everyone for 30 minutes. This has been fixed.
Station notification settings apply immediately - On an individual station page, changing notification settings showed a success message but the page kept displaying the old values until you did a full refresh. The same controls on the My Stations list worked fine. Now both update right away.
GeoSigner install option restored - Some stations linked to a GeoSigner were missing the BYOD Install action. This has been resolved, and affected stations were repaired.
Claim Rewards wording - Rewards you had already taken were labeled "Already withdrawn", which read like a separate wallet action rather than a past claim. They now read "Already claimed", in all five languages.
Partner pages - Added dedicated pages explaining the Wingbits distribution partner proposition, with an application form, reachable from navigation and the footer.
API Updates:
Uppercase callsigns and hex IDs now work - Live flight and aircraft lookups are stored lowercase internally, but the API used whatever you sent verbatim, so querying with an uppercase callsign or ICAO hex (which is how most people write them) could come back empty for a flight that was definitely there. Identifiers are now normalized before lookup, including padded whitespace.
