Nothing is lost as we are just in the testing phase on Devnet. All rewards are re-issued when we move to mainnet.
If you want to test claiming rewards now, you can with a wallet that fully supports the Solana Devnet. Or you can just leave the wallet you want to use for mainnet assigned and wait till then.
